I'm joining Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky party a day late.
I am going to start with something from home. This is the type of conversations I am having with Delaney when we go out to eat.
The next time I got gas, when I got back in the car, she said, "You smell like gas, 6 x 6 is 36, 7 x 7 is 49 ...." She is crazy and delightful!
I got this idea from Nancy @ First Grade WOW
As the kids were bringing me their hands, I had the idea to make the hands show the I Love You sign. I didn't have a chance to put it together until after school, Delaney was helping me, she thought I should add the two hands shaking. I thought it was a good idea. I totally forgot to have the kids sign the heart before I put it together. As you can see, some of my kids are still needing to work on their cutting skills.
We went to Texas over the weekend. While I was there, I found these cute flyswatters at Walmart. They will be perfect for a sight word game.
. I was inspired by Em @ Curious Firsties post about making snowmen from triangles. It was a great demonstration that not all triangles look the same. Here are some of their creations.
This one reminds of Mother Goose with her bonnet on.
Hmmm, what happened here....
This one cracks me up, it looks like the snowman is sticking his neck out,
but wait, snowmen don't have necks!!!
This one looks more like a duck. lol
A pointy hat on a pointy head! hahaha
Is a fabulous find. I was at Target last night and they had these in the Dollar Spot. They looked like they would be perfect for book bins for Daily Five. I have never tried the Daily Five, but I think I am going back today to get some of these.
Have a Terrific weekend!
Your I Love You hands are a great modification.

Thanks Tammy, as you can see, a few didn't have any fingers to make the I love you sign! lol
DeleteFirst time to visit your blog- you have to love linkies so we can meet new teacher bloggy friends! Your snowmen are very cute! Here's another idea for the heart thing- last year I drew a big heart on my biggest table (with a pencil) and then had all the students place their hands on the line. This made their hands in the heart shape. I stood above them and took a picture and we sent that to parents for Valentine's Day! It was very cute!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you!

Teachers Are Terrific!
Carol, that sounds like a really cute idea. I hope I can remember it for next year. It is nice to meet you to, I'll be checking out your blog. ;)
DeleteLoved this post. We made the heart shaped thank you using their real hands. The original inspiration for this is on Pinterest. I traced a heart shape on the carpet (the janitor is NOT my biggest fan) and then I had the kids put their fingers along the line. We took their picture from up above for the front of the card, no faces showing. On the inside, it's the same picture but backed up some with their little faces looking upward. It turned out really cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Sandy, that sounds terrific! My kids would have loved it, they always like getting their picture taken. Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
DeleteI clicked on your blog because your title is AWESOME! Love those snow people!

Thanks Carrie! I was kind of mean, they kept wanting to add different things to the picture, but I wouldn't let them. haha I'll be checking out your blog too! I have several friends that teach 3rd grade and I like sharing ideas I find with them.
DeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE this post. The snowmen are just so cute. I would want to hang them up for the rest of the year. They just make me smile. And the hands...love it! Then there is Delaney. She is so cute. Thanks for sharing all these great things. I loved reading every word :)
