A New Classroom for a New Year

As I have posted before, our school has been undergoing major renovations. Two old buildings were torn down, a 3rd old building was taken down to the stone walls and completely transformed from a damp and drafty gym to 5 beautiful new classrooms. A new wing has been built to connect the old gym to the main building. The new wing is completed so everyone is moving into it so they can update the main building. I spent three of my winter break days packing up my room. I was going to move a few of my boxes that I didn't want to get squashed. Delaney went up with me and she ended up moving all of my boxes to the new room. She worked so hard all day. Anyway, school starts back on Friday, January 4. My principal will be at school on the 2nd and 3rd so we can try to get our new rooms together. This is what is facing me when I come back.

I think I have my work cut out for me. To make matters even worse, I have a 3-day workshop I have to go to Monday through Wednesday after coming back for one day. We will have all kinds of new procedures to go over. No one can say that teaching is ever boring. ; P

  2. This is a kind of a crazy time of year and a small window in which to move classrooms. Wow. Sounds like you've got some good help though. Blessings! (You go back on the 4th?)

    1. It is a crazy time of the year for the move, but the builder is doing his best to stay on schedule. I'm just glad that this move was during a break and not over a weekend! lol

  3. I don't envy you the extra work but a new school! Wow! I would love that. Ours is so old and just falling apart. We've been promised a new school but it takes FOREVER. Enjoy your new digs, you lucky gal.

    1. I guess you might call it a labor of love. I'll be moving back into the main building after they renovate it. So I get to do this again at the end of the year. Our building definitely needed a facelift too.
