Snow Day Freebie

Since we are out of school today, I thought I would go ahead an share a couple more versions of my sight word card games. the words are pretty much the same in every set, I just switched the pictures to hit different interests the kids had.
These are card games, just print, laminate and cut apart. The kids draw a card, if they can read it, they keep it. I usually have them pass it to the next child if they can't read it or phone a friend for help. To make it fun, there are some extra cards like draw again, put all of your cards back, etc... The person with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.

Hope you like them! : )

  1. Thanks for the Freebies. We are working HARD on sight words right now and they love games, so this will be awesome. Thanks. How do you play it in your room?

    1. When we first start out, I will use them at the teacher table and then sometimes I put the cards on the Smartboard and play with the whole class. After everyone or almost everyone, understands the rules, I will put it at a center.

I actually made these to send home with kids to play and get sight word practice at home. I was trying to make the games with things they were interested in. I have some more games simliar to these that are based on the phonics rule for the week that we use in the room. Glad you can use them. I don't know if you noticed, but I also posted Cars and Spiderman games a couple of days ago.

  2. Hey Kelly! Your sight word cards are great! Thank you for offering them as freebies! We got out today at 11 for the snow and are supposed to get a lot of it! No school tomorrow I am sure! I have been cutting out piles of lamination but had to take a break to visit some blogs!

    1. Hope you get a lot accomplished. I didn't, I'm out of colored ink at home and at school, we're out of laminating film. I did get my laundry done, so that is good. : D

  3. Could you send a few snowflakes my way? I wouldn't mind a snow day. :)

    1. We didn't even have any snow, just a bunch of ice and sleet. It's not nearly as pretty, but it did give us a day off. ;P
